Hey polyglots, this month we've got a talk about using SQL with R, and also one about Rust!
Ryan Harvey - SQL + R
Ryan Harvey will talk about SQL, the interface language to most of the world's structured data, including how to use it with R (and if there's still time, with Python). Fun topics include the use of common table expressions, views and functions to modularize SQL code, as well as using SQL on in-memory data structures in R (and Python).
Davis Silverman - Rust
Davis Silverman will talk about the Rust programming language's powerful type system and strong ownership guarantees to ensure memory safety without garbage collection.
We're looking for speakers! It's ok if you've never spoken before or if you've spoken hundreds of times, we want to hear from you!
We're looking for talks about anything interesting to programmers, come share about your favorite language or framework, or learn something new and talk about how it went! We're hoping for talks about anything but here are a few things members have mentioned wanting to learn about recently: Go, C, C++, Haskell, Erlang, and Elixir.
Contact Josh on the left or through whatever means you have, except probably smoke signals, I always get those mixed up and then embarrasing things happen.
