We're going to begin this evenings festivities with a discussion of Docker. Docker is an evolution on virtualisation technology that you may be familiar with in the area of virtual machines, a technology that in my opinion has revolutionised computing as we know it. Docker now represents a prominent role in application infrastructure, where our applications run in their various environments, and is supported by all of the major cloud providers. Historically it has been difficult to maintain our applications across various environments because of their, sometimes subtle, differences. Docker's promise is to reconcile these differences by allowing us to use the exact same environment across development, staging and production - and it really delivers. Tonight we will talk about the Docker fundamentals and some ways we can use it as developers and technologists. This talk will change the way you use your computer.

Introduction to Kubernetes
What is Kubernetes, and why is it useful? What does using it entail? What on earth is a pod or a controller or a service? If you find Kubernetes to be a world of confusing DevOps jargon, come to this session to find out what exactly Kubernetes is, and how it can be used as a platform for your projects.
