Learn how to connect with anyone in Vancouver NOW!
Have you ever noticed how hard it is to meet people in this city? Maybe you are new to Vancouver, or maybe you have been here for years and all of your friends moved away or got married and now you are stuck watching netflix instead of living your life! Whatever the reason for the situation, it's gotta change. Vancouver is such a great town but it can be socially awkward here... This event is all about helping you get more social and put yourself out there in a way that makes people excited to see you again. We are going to discuss how to make the most of the summer here since that is the only time people come out of their "condo caves". There are a few simple shifts your need to make and you could be connecting with all sorts of people everyday EFFORTLESSLY! The fact is, humans are social creatures and we need to feel connected to a larger group. But social networking doesn't do the job... we need real world relationships to feel fulfilled in a deep way. At this workshop you will not only learn some really cool stuff around evolutionary psychology and how to use it to finally have the kind of friendships and more that you have always wanted but also you will meet like minded people who are also on this wavelength, the kind of people who are sick of sitting around watching time pass, the kind of people who want to build a tribe! These events are some of the most highly rated events in the city, you don't want to miss this one! PLEASE NOTE: 750 Hamilton is not at street level. The easiest way to find it is to get yourself to Hamilton Street between Robson and Georgia. Mid-block, with the Library behind you, you will be looking at a JJ Bean coffee kiosk. To the right of that, you will see a set of concrete steps leading up. Follow those to 750 and dial 110 on the entry phone to be admitted to The Post at 750! ACCESS FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES: Elevator access to The Post at 750 is through the atrium of the CBC Broadcast Centre at 700 Hamilton Street. After 6pm guests must be escorted by someone with an access card (the renter). When you enter, take the elevator up to the level marked "Security", then go towards the upper Security desk. Go out the doors to the right of the security desk. PARKING: metered street parking is available on Hamilton, Georgia, Robson and Cambie all day everyday, with the exception of Georgia Street between Hamilton and Cambie from 3pm - 6pm Monday to Friday. Meter parking is 2-hour maximum between 8am and 10pm every day. Parking lots are located at Larwill Park, off Cambie East between Dunsmuir and Georgia, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, off Cambie West between Dunsmuir and Georgia and in the Vancouver Public Library, off Hamilton West between Georgia and Robson. Prices vary depending on day of week, time of day and whether there are events in the neighbourhood (hockey, football, etc.) TRANSIT: The Post at 750 is conveniently located near the Stadium Expo/Millennium line Skytrain station and the Vancouver City Centre Canada Line station. Transit maps are available here: http://www.translink.ca/-/media/Documents/schedules_and_maps/stn_exch/Stadium.pdf and here: http://www.translink.ca/-/media/Documents/schedules_and_maps/stn_exch/GranvilleStn_VancouverCityCentre.pdf

What we're about

I wanted to do that... Just not alone! (FREE & SAFE)

* A community is great because of its members, and we need you to make it great!

We live in an ever-shrinking world, where the technologies and transportation systems make it easier than ever to connect people from every corner of the world. We also have the fortune to live in a quality and vibrant city that is home to people of diverse backgrounds and life experience. The Vancouver International Network gives you an opportunity to experience some of the many international cultures that the city hosts, to share your knowledge of cultural heritage, interests/hobbies or professional expertise with other members of the group, and make new friends while doing so.

The mission of this group is as implied by the name of the group--we'd like to provide good company as well as a positive and safe environment for members to experience things that, for whatever reasons, you longed for but weren't able to do before. You'll also get to know things that you can do and enjoy in Vancouver through the meetups proposed by your peers. It is also a hope of our group to promote cross-cultural dialogues, sharing, understanding, and peer supports through a variety of local activities and events, as well as international trips.

But we (organizers) are few and you are many, and this means that to work toward these goals we need the proactive participation and supports from at least some members of the community. This group is unique because of our members, and we look forward to meeting you and facilitate the meetup ideas you propose.

Dear friends,

This new group is part of an effort for establishing a network of global meetups, currently being fast deployed in major cities worldwide, including London, Paris, Vancouver, New York, LA, Toronto, Montreal, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Thailand... And more to come!

Our only agenda is to build up a global community (in the format of meetup groups at this stage), where participants get to mix and mingle in a safe and friendly environment, have fun and adventures together or establish long-lasting friendship and fully enjoy what the city's got to offer.

We believe that this service can be offered for free, and we need your participation and encouragement to make it happen.

If you are fond of our vision, welcome to join and check it out. Invite your friends who may be interested. We appreciate your supports, volunteering, and valuable inputs, but nothing is mandatory except for mutual respects to other members in the community.
