Just Walk Salem is a network of free weekly neighborhood walking groups led by volunteers. Everyone is welcome--you do not have to live in a particular neighborhood to participate! Join a walk or contact us (503-373-3760 or email@example.com) to start a new one in your neighborhood.
The group generally walks the hills behind the store or walks through Pioneer Cemetery, but can also go to Bush Park or Clark Creek Park. The walk is about two and a half miles and is paced to accommodate the people who show up. LifeSource rewards each walker with a free piece of fruit when they return from the walk. (Note: Time change from 9:15 to 12:15 starting Nov. 1st.)
Choose from one or two figure-eight loops for a 1 mile or a 2 1/2 mile walk. The park has bark and asphalt paths with some inclines and stairs, and water and restrooms are available. Parking is available on Leffelle Street. Rain or shine.
Meet at the corner of Kingwood and Montrose for a brisk, 45 minute walk in a West Salem Neighborhood. (Walk leaders: Nancy and Linda). (off Glencreek, one block past(west) the fire station. Left on Kingwood and right on Montrose.)
Meet at Wendy Kroger Park. Walk through the Faye Wright neighborhood near Judson Middle School. The group walks about 2 to 3 miles on flat ground with an occasional short hill. It takes them between 45 minutes to an hour. The walk goes rain or shine. Led by various neighbors.
