Photowalk & Exhibition: Intentional Blur at the Southbank

THEME: Intentional Blur. Sharpness is amazing, but if our objective is less about literal representation and more about conveying a feeling, then blurry photos can sometimes do a better job. We will start out at an exhibition in the Gallery@OXO for inspiration on how blur can be used. After this, we'll discuss how to achieve blur creatively and technically (eg. zoom, panning, action techniques).

PURPOSE: In every Meetup, we entertain a different philosophical thought to inspire our photography. This is to mindfully heighten our awareness and experiment with different ways of looking at the world.

LOCATION:
We'll be at Gallery checking out photographs. If you're late and can't find us, message on this group and I'll let you know where we've moved on to.

EXHIBITION:
The subject of the exhibition is contemporary photography inspired by the landscape. There are nine artists, leading outdoor photographers with very different styles. Some of them use intentional camera movements and multiple exposures to achieve more intimate and abstract impressions. The photo above is by Valda Bailey who is one of my favourite photographers featured in the exhibition.

• Camera / Phone: ideally one that allows you to adjust shutter speed!
