Want to be a better paddler? Improve your core strength and balance? Don’t wait until kayak season to get started!
Come join us for YOGA FOR KAYAKERS class!
Location: Private Clubhouse in Farmington area near UConn Health Center.

This event is designed with the intention of applying common YOGA principles for the kayak paddler. Our goals are to become more flexible, strengthen the upper body muscles we tend to use when paddling and to strengthen the core muscles that may be needed in situations for self-rescue and getting in and out of your kayak. Actually, YOGA can benefit us in everyday living and is not limited to kayak activities.
About our Host: Lisa J recently completed her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Kripalu Yoga Center and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) and member of the Yoga Alliance. A yoga practitioner for the past 12 years and an avid kayaker for 7 years, she is offering a yoga class featuring postures (Asanas) that align with the principles of kayak paddling and self-rescue. You will learn how to lengthen your spine, strengthen your core, stretch your hamstrings, and develop better balance, core rotation and more. All postures will be accompanied by a discussion about how these will benefit not only your paddling and/or self-rescue skills, but your overall physical and mental well-being. Additional class dates may be added depending on the interest level.
Is this class right for me? This class is appropriate for the novice person who wants to try yoga for the first time and for anyone who is has done yoga in the past. Any current or past injuries will be considered and appropriate modifications offered, including use of a chair if needed. If you are not sure, please email me directly and/or check with your doctor before signing up.
Please bring the following items to class: (you can find these at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Walmart, etc. for minimum cost)
Yoga Mat
Yoga block(s)
Yoga Strap
Pillow and/or blankets to sit on
Water and towel
Pls wear loose fitting clothing.
Throughout the year, there may be more Yoga and other offerings for your well-being at our hiking,camping and kayaking events.
