Cross country race in Swope Park: Kris Kringle 5k
Congratulations to Jason & Jessica for placing 1st & 2nd, respectively in their age groups in the Wilderness Run and winning free entry into this next off-road race! These KC Parks races are great fun! This time, join us for a challenging cross country race (https://kcparks.org/about-recreation/athletics/cross-country-runs/kris-kringle-5k-run) in Swope Park. It won't be on the singletrack MTB trails that we sometimes run, but rather on the big, grassy (and hilly) meadows around the community center and bandstand. Who wouldn't want to enjoy a fun run in beautiful Swope Park, the city's largest park which is also home to the Kansas City Zoo, Starlight Theater, Swope Memorial Golf Course, Heart of America Golf Academy, Lakeside Nature Center, the Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course, Swope Soccer Village, a dog park, those awesome MTB trails, etc.???? The race will conclude with pancakes & hot chocolate, and will even include an ugly sweater contest! Race entry currently costs $30. The money goes to KC Parks, not KC Pub Run. Get registered now (https://www.raceentry.com/races/kris-kringle-5k/2018/register) Maybe see you at the race!

    What we're about

Do you like to run and drink beer? Then this group is for you.

We meet 1-2 nights/week to run a few miles, then celebrate with beer! Sometimes we meet on weekends for brunch runs, trail runs, and special events.

Everyone is welcome to run with us! However, membership is a privilege. Please review our Group Rules (http://www.meetup.com/KC-Pub-Run/pages/Group_Rules/) before making a request to join the group.

If you can run 4 miles in 40 minutes, you're golden. Faster runners are welcome, as we often split into two groups. We try not to leave anybody behind, but beginning runners, slow joggers, and run/walkers should look for a different group.

Pub runs are always free. Matt pays the recurring Meetup organizer fees (currently $15/month). The best way to contribute is to buy him a beer after a pub run. Who knows? One of these days it could actually happen haha.

Did we mention dogs are welcome, too? Especially when the weather is mild and we meet someplace with a dog-friendly patio.
