Fix Our Parks and Public Lands 🇺🇸
Details
Please show your support for our invaluable local public parks that are available to us during this COVID-19 pandemic as well as state and national parks that we will visit in the future. Here's how:
ASK YOUR SENATOR TO CO-SPONSOR AND VOTE FOR THE BIPARTISAN GREAT AMERICAN OUTDOORS ACT.
Congress is on the verge of passing a major piece of legislation that will drastically improve access to trails and public lands to conserve the places you love to hike and address the long overdue maintenance needs that have resulted in trail closures at our National Parks, Forests, Refuges, and other public lands.
Please take action on the link below and then RSVP here on Meetup so I know if this was an effective online event. You can do this at any convenient time and date as we won’t actually be meeting to do this.

Phone calls from constituents can be a very effective follow-up.
If you are also willing to call your Senator’s DC office to make a cosponsorship request or a thank you for already cosponsoring, you can phone the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for that Senator’s office. You will give this message to their receptionist or to the staffer in their DC office working on parks and other natural resource issues.
Missouri:
Thank Sen Blunt for already cosponsoring the Great American Outdoor Act (S 3422).
Ask Sen Hawley to follow Sen Blunt’s example and to cosponsor.
Kansas:
Thanks Sen Roberts for already cosponsoring the Great American Outdoor Act (S 3422).
Ask Sen Moran to follow Sen Roberts example and to cosponsor.
AND -- here's the hopeful thing -- there is still a slight hope we can get the Great American Outdoors Act , S 3422, into the next coronavirus stimulus bill. The MORE cosponsors the bill has -- the better the chance it has to be brought up for a vote on the floor. That is why, right now, Senator Hawley and Senator Moran are so important!
Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club has helped establish and expand national parks like Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, and pushed to define landmark legislation like the Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act. Inspired by nature, generation after generation of Sierra Club members continue to explore, enjoy and protect the planet.

We're thinking about all of you during this COVID-19 pandemic and hope you're safe and well. It's important to get outside (locally) a little bit each day, for your mental and physical health during quarantine. See our FAQ on how to #HikeResponsibly.
