TODAY IS A DREAM DAY for those who love ART, ARCHITECTURE, TREASURES and HISTORY.

Once a year, every September, many buildings in London which are not normally open to the public,throw open their doors for everyone to visit the art and treasures inside. Open House weekend provides a rare insight into many old and fabulous buildings in London. If you love London, its buildings, its history and/or architecture then this is your weekend. This event effectively provides a tour of several of those buildings.Open House London celebrates all that is best about the capital’s buildings, places and neighbourhoods. Every September, it gives a unique opportunity to get out and under the skin of London’s amazing architecture, with over 700 buildings of all kinds opening their doors to everyone – all for free.

London is famous for its many beautiful buildings. This morning, Saturday, we will visit and view a few of them.

More Details;

  1. TRINITY HOUSE
    The HQ of the charity body ensuring the safety of shipping and the well being of seafarers ever since Trinity House was granted a Royal Charter by Henry VIII in 1514. It is the general authority responsible for lighthouses that ensure the safety of all mariners and their vessels.

  2. CLOTHWORKERS HALL
    One of Lodon's Livery Companies; The Worshipful Company of Clothworkers was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1528. The original craft of the Clothworkers was the finishing of woven woollen cloth: fulling it to mat the fibres and remove the grease, drying it on tenter frames (from which derives the expression 'to be on tenterhooks'), and shearing it to a uniform finish. It sought to regulate clothworking, to maintain standards and to protect approved practices.

  3. LLOYDS REGISTER GROUP
    Sumptuous building with many original decorative and architectural features. Historically, as Lloyd's Register of Shipping, it was specifically a maritime organisation. During the late 20th century, it diversified into other industries including oil and gas, nuclear, and rail. Lloyd's Register is unaffiliated with Lloyd's of London. The Lloyd’s Register Foundation is the sole shareholder. The Foundation will benefit from continued funding from the group’s operating arm, Lloyd’s Register Group Limited, to continue with its charitable work.

  4. LEADENHALL BUILDING
    New building completed in 2015. contains the UK's highest dedicated venue and conference space called Landing Forty Two. Popularly known as “The Cheesegrater”, the Building’s 42nd floor offers panoramic views of the Thames and the City skyline.

  5. NOS 8-10 MOORGATE
    The home for ING UK Ltd. With interesting art collection. The building blends an historic interior with modern office space.

However, please note that we may need to be flexible as the afternoon progresses, and there may be queuing for entry. If we have time we may be able to visit another property.

All buildings listed are free to enter this weekend.

Be prepared for a some walking between buildings and a little queuing also, in order to gain entry into the more popular buildings.
