PYMMES BROOK GREENWALK- from Oakleigh Park.

Details
GROUP WALK: Get out, explore and enjoy London's abundant green spaces and surprising surrounding countryside, whilst making new friends in a group walk!!
Give up the city streets for a day and breathe some fresh air. Improve your overall fitness levels, whilst chatting to new people during the walk and socialising afterwards in a pub.
Today we explore a section of the PYMMES BROOK GREEN WALK, and several North London Parks. It links areas of public open spaces along the Pymmes Brook in a green chain, across north London.
START POINT: Todays walk starts at OAKLEIGH RAILWAY STATION.
ROUTE: From the station we travel into Oak Hill Park, which is one of Barnet's premier parks, to join Pymmes Brook. It is a large area of parkland through which the Pymmes Brook flows, and which contains diverse woodland but is mostly grassy fields. A large brick viaduct, with 34 numbered arches, carries the Piccadilly line beyond Arnos Grove tube station towards Southgate through the western end of the park. Also, evidence of the abandoned New River loop can be found within the trees in the north side of Oak Hill Woods dates back to at least the eleventh century, when it was owned by the church. Our walk continues through Brunswick Park, Arnos Park, Broomfield Park.
END POINT: We are finishing at a large pub near Palmers Green station.
DISTANCE: Fairly flat. Approximately 3.5 miles.
RISK WARNING: In these walks we use; pavements, cross busy roads, public parkland, towpaths, other public paths, rights of way, bridlepaths, country lanes and other recognised paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. Please only wear good sturdy shoes, preferably walking boots and take care as surfaces may be uneven, tree roots may protrude, there may be low overhanging branches and some paths are also used by joggers and cyclists and sometimes cars (country lanes). On occasion wild and farm animals may also encountered. If you require insurance for these walks then you must arrange this yourself.
Unfortunately no dogs and children (under the age of 18) are permitted on these walks.
Please dress appropriately for weather conditions and carry a bottle of water. You need to be moderately fit for this walk.
Make sure you bring some appropriate shoes as some of the paths may be muddy in places.
RAIN POLICY - Walking events should always be fun. If the weather is very wet (light rain is not usually a problem), walking in the rain is no fun, therefore we may reschedule this walk. Check this page at 11am on the morning of the walk for the latest weather update.
AFTERDRINKS, FOOD & SOCIALISING: After we finish the walk at around 4.00pm, we are going to head off for some food and drinks at a large pub (Wetherspoons) near to Palmers Green Train Station where the socialising continues.
