What we're about

This group formed out of the desire to share the wonderful experiences of outdoor activities with the children and youth in our lives. Not only to enrich the lives of those younger than us; but to enrich our lives as caretakers as we re-experience the outdoor activities we love with those we love.

The vast majority of outdoor groups do not organize kid/youth-suitable meetups but many folks have younger ones and would love to bring them. Some of us spend every weekend with theirs, others alternate weekends or holidays. Whatever your situation or family-style, let this group be your portal for planning, organizing or just tagging along and learning someone younger the basics of outdoor adventure.

Urban Hike: Great Kills Crooke's Point Labyrinth
Needs a date and time

Great Kills Park & Beach (Gateway Nat'l Rec Area)

The Crooke's Point circuit lobs you from one shore area to another, with the agreeable mix of vegetation lending a labyrinth-like feel to the jaunt. A sensational range of birds twitters and clucks from within that overgrowth, too, adding to the appeal of a fun, easy walk. When entering the park, drive straight past the ranger station on the right to the beach center parking on the left, across from the marina. Lenght: 2 miles Elevation Gain: 48 feet

Let's meet up!
Needs a date and time

Needs a location

Weather permitting of course --we've been pretty lucky so far--, will anyone be around any of the next 3 weekends (12/19-20, 12/26-27, 1/2-3) , or off from work between 12/24 and New Year's, and want to get the kids together and do something outdoors-y? I'm going to check if there is any sort of event that looks fun and interesting, or otherwise, it could just be a simple hike or a playground even... anything to get some fresh air and let the kids have fun together! My daughter is 9 years old. Let me know! Vanessa
