Real world Kafka Streams:
In this session you will learn how to build scalable Kafka Streams applications. You are introduced to the concepts of Kafka and streaming and learn how to use Kafka Streams components such as kStreams, kTables, filters, branches. Furthermore we look at some real world Kafka Streams applications and find out what are the challenges of building and running a complex and scalable Kafka Streams system.

Financial Alerts @ ING using Apache Kafka
Learn how ING alerts their investments customers in real time about price fluctuations on stocks in their portfolio with the goal to give customers the opportunity to act accordingly when stocks are dropping or increasing in price. In the talk Tim will also cover how ING tackled the business case using Apache Kafka and Microservices with focus on (local) development challenges like running Confluent Kafka in Docker and Integration testing. The main challenge of this project was to deal with the continuous stream of stock price updates (up to 12.000 a second) and still keep up with sending real time alerts to our investments customers.

Keep Calm and..
Learn from over 3y of experiences and insights gathered running the Apache Kafka Business Event Bus in production inside a Tier-1 bank in the Netherlands that eventually lead to the development of a self-service enterprise stream management solution for Kafka.
