We will paddle around Lake Woodlands just a little in the early evening and then park in the canal next to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion where Heart will be playing. Scheduled to appear with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart ("Magic Man") at this event are Joan Jett and the Blackhearts ("I Love Rock 'n Roll") and Elle King ("Ex's & Oh's"). We'll be there for whoever shows up. Please note that this is a very obstructed view (you cannot see anything of the stage), and impaired audio, but with these artists, the audio should come through pretty well in spite of the distance.
This is a Thursday evening, and we'll be out late. Concerts usually end between 10:30 and 11:00. I don't know why the trip posting software does not allow 11:00 PM or 23:00 CDT, but to be clear, the event is scheduled from 7:00-11:00PM, or[masked] hours military/World time. Our Put-In / Take-Out allows for this (no gates will trap us in the Whole Foods parking lot).
Lake's Edge Boat House
(near Whole Foods at the address below)
1925 Hughes Landing Blvd
The Woodlands, TX 77380
Orient yourself by driving through the Whole Foods parking lot toward the water, with the entrance to Whole Foods on your right. As you are driving past the entrance, you will see a gap between the 7-story buildings in front of you just to the left of straight ahead. At the end of the parking lot, jog left and take the unnamed road between these buildings (red and white construction barriers on the left side) to the circle at the end. Drop your boat and gear there at the kayak rental sign and go back to park in the Whole Foods parking lot. You might want to make a pit stop there as well, if you feel so inclined.
BRING "FER SHER":
Kayak/Canoe (no kayak rentals available at this time of night.)
Light on the stern of the boat (US Coast Guard requirement)
RECOMMENDED / OPTIONAL:
Dinner / Refreshments (no glass containers) / Snacks
The usual Sunglasses, Bug Spray, Hat and Safety Gear
An Anchor System, if you have one
Extra Seat Cushioning (optional)
Novice+ (all skill levels)
NICE TO KNOW:
You cannot see the performers from our "obstructed view" free seats, so no need for opera glasses.
