What we’re about
We are a relaxed, welcoming group. Each quilter works on her own projects at our quilt-ins. These are "in town" quilting retreats where you go home and sleep in your own beds overnight. Quilters come and go over the retreat weekend as their schedules permit. When signing up, you are "renting" a table for the weekend. The studio (located in downtown Saint Paul) is open Saturday 9am to 9pm and Sunday 9am to 5pm.
The main sewing room accommodates eight quilters, including me. A six-foot table, comfy rolling office chair, floor lamp and multi-pronged extension cord are provided for each quilter. There is room for you to bring a small side table (approximately 2' x 3'). I recommend you bring a table task light (or two), an extension cord if you need to plug in more than three things. Most quilters bring a snack to share. I have Ikea task lights for sale if you need one.
In addition to the sewing room, there is a cutting/ ironing room and a library/ break room available for your use. We ask attendees to take all personal telephone calls in the library, into the hallway or to another location in or outside the building in order to insure your privacy and the enjoyment of all those attending.
I ask potential members to attend a quilt-in retreat or two to try us on for size before their membership is approved here on MeetUp. Please know that it is not our intent to appear to be an exclusive-type group. We are friendly and welcoming of newcomers. However, we want to keep our site here on MeetUp private to those who have attended a quilt-in and have confirmed, for themselves, that we are the kind of quilting group they would like to join. We hope you understand, and hope that once you attend, you will agree that this is a good policy for our group.
If you would like to try us out, please click on 'CONTACT US' and send me a message. Please include the dates of the upcoming quilt-in(s) you'd like to attend and any questions you might have about us. I will confirm if there is an spot available and how to send your payment. Please pay what you like for the weekend. If you want to attend only one day, when you sign up, please let me know as another quilter may be able to use the other day.
Payments may be sent via PayPal.com to my email address, which I will provide to you when you sign up for a quilt-in. In the comments field, please note the quilt-in date(s) you are signing up for. If you prefer, you may mail a check. Once your payment is received, I will reserve a "guest" spot for you. If something comes up and you are not able to attend, notify me at least three days prior to the quilt-in (by 9am Wednesday) and I will "carry forward" your prepayment to a future retreat. Payments are not refunded.
After attending, if you like our group, please let me know, go to MeetUp and ask to JOIN, and I will approve your membership. Once you are a member, you will have access to the information here on MeetUp, which includes future quilt-in dates, any upcoming special events, recipes, and links to interesting places on the internet etc.
