This adventure has been perfectly pulled together for any beginner mountain bike riders that want to come and explore an easy grade 2, 14km loop at Hunua Forest.

Speed demons and lycra clad xc hoons are banned, this is a fun easy ride designed to show you another epic network of trail right here in Auckland… and we even get a stream crossing to add to the fun of it all.

We’ve go for you on this ride our very own Qualified Female Mountain Bike guide to show us the ropes… whoop whoop… girl power!

And we’ll be riding the Valley Loop. It’s graded as an easy is 14km and is mainly on gravel road with a stream crossing (YAY!) and the option to try out some single track along the way. There is also a skills park at the beginning and end of the ride if you feel like giving some of the things a go.

    The Forest

The Hunua Range is the largest block of forest to be found on the mainland of the Auckland region. The forest grows from the coast to the very top of the highest peaks in the Range. In all, there are over 450 different species of native plants, 21 of which are either nationally or regionally threatened.

This is why you must stick to the tracks and preserve the fauna – it’s hard to tell a young growing native starting its long life when it’s just a toddler.

Although many of the large stands of kauri, matai, kahikatea, tawa, rata and rimu were removed by logging last century, they are now regenerating successfully.

That’s not to say every magnificent tree was removed in the Hunua Range. As you wander, you will see plenty of towering giants.

In 1964, the first plantings of radiata pine trees in the north west of the Range were established on what was once cleared farmland. Today, 2240 hectares of exotic forest are being logged and replanted under a forestry lease.

We have designed a safe and encouraging space for you to come and try something you have always wanted to and I wanna say good on you girl!  It takes courage to step out and give something new ago, so you’re already freaking kick ass in my books.

Remember Adventure Girls about fun, adventure and being a part of a sisterhood of women, like you, who are up for getting into the adventure of life.

As well as all the cool stuff on the day, you’ll get exclusive access to the fast-growing private Facebook Adventure Girls Sisterhood group with over 200 women that have been on or coming on one of our adventures.

In here you can meet the other women coming to your adventure, organise carpooling, share your stories from your adventure, as well as hang out with adventure girls that have been on other adventures.

Connect into a great sisterhood of women, like you getting into making that ‘some-day’ list happen now.

    Ask yourself this…

When is now a good time to come to this Adventure?

How will this make you feel?

What fantastic accomplishments and stories will you have to share with others?

What words would you use to describe how awesome it was to experience the wonderful lifestyle that New Zealand offers?
