What we're about

::: Bank Holiday Mondays—YES! We’re still (virtually) meeting up! :::
**Our Temporary Suspension of In-Person Meetups: We will be back to our regularly scheduled programming after the official social distancing advisory is lifted! Make no mistake, we’re not going anywhere! In the meantime, we will be trialing virtual meetings for the group. 😁 I have sent out emails to a few dozen regular-attending members; if that description fits you, please check your email—some people have found it in their spam folder! 💌 (I am sure I missed a few people because of the loose way Meetup.com gathers basic personal details!) If you did not get an email but are interested in attending our virtual knitting and stitching meetups, please DM me! I will get back to you! ...Stay safe and healthy! xxChristine**

Welcome knitters of all levels! We're a friendly, easy-going group that meets weekly for a bit of a knit and a chat. The meetup is informal, not a class, and is always free.

Bring along your current project, get help with a tricky technique, share your knowledge with a novice, or have a friendly chat and lose count of your stitches. Or if you're completely new to knitting, just turn up with a ball of wool and needles and learn to knit -- there's always someone eager to help.

If crochet or other needlework is your jam, you'll fit in just fine. Grab your gear and join us!

The meetups take place from 5:30-8pm (-ish). The timing is flexible, so do feel free to turn up whenever suits you in that period!

Purchase of a drink is encouraged but not required—The Canbury Arms kindly welcomes our group every Monday and it’s nice to thank them with a purchase (and a mention in your Instagram stream!) but all we require is your company!

(Kingston Knitting Bee was formerly 'Hands Coffee Company Kingston Knitting Meetup,' from April 2015 to January 2016. We also met at Glutopia Bakery from January 2016 to June 2019.)

Knitters of all skill levels are welcome! 🧶🧵🧸👗Crocheters and needleworkers, you'll find a home here too 😊 We're about knitting and chatting with friends. There are always a few experts floating about for help with sticky problems. Turn up with your current project, show off your finished work, or just relax with a drink and snack. We're an informal group, not a class...always free. Please order your drink/snack at the bar! 🍹🍺🥗 *** Novice knitters: Complete beginners are very welcome to join! If you’re a self-directed learner and want an informal lesson, bring along a ball of aran weight wool and 5mm needles and we can get you started knitting! Please make sure to shoot Christine a message ahead so that she can keep a seat free next to herself or another experienced knitter. ✨If you prefer a more structured/focused learning environment, Christine teaches beginning and intermediate/advanced knitting at Beautiful Knitters yarn shop in Pimlico! Visit https://beautifulknitters.co.uk/collections/knitting-1 to sign up for a workshop ✨ She also teaches beginning crochet at Knithub24 in Islington! Visit https://www.knithub24.com/knithub-academy/ ✨ A variety of classes at different levels and covering specialist techniques will be available—please do check back! *** Please Post Your Photos! 🧦🧣🧤We have a Members' Gallery where we encourage you to post photos of your finished or in-progress work. Posting photos inspires other members and encourages new ones, so please do take the time to add your pics! Whether it's a complicated cardigan or your very first scarf, a full-length shot of your garment in action, or a detail photo of a few interesting stitches, we're excited to see our members' work. Feel free to add a little description and any useful info about the work. [To post: if you're accessing meetup.com through your browser, you can post directly to the album Members' Gallery; if you're using the mobile app, you can simply post a photo at the prompt and Christine will move it to the album later. Either method is great!]
