This group is about meeting people, making new friends and improving your social life. Events are put on by members, so it should appeal to all people of all age groups and backgrounds, couples as well as singles.
There is a £5 membership fee to join the group (to help pay for the cost of the website), but after that there are no other costs. There is no extra charge to come to an event.
We do not insist you add a photo to your profile, but it will help us recognise you when you come to a meetup, so a clear photo showing your face is to your advantage.
Beginners class for modern jive, no partner needed. Wear comfy casual clothes that you can move around in. This is a small very friendly class and I started learning here about 16 months ago and I wish I’d done it years ago. If you’ve ever wanted to dance but thought you needed a partner come to this class
We'll meet in one of the restaurants near the cinema for those who wish to eat first, then make our way over to the cinema. For those who would prefer just to see the film, we will meet at 7.30pm in the Showcase Foyer.
Both the film and restaurant will be announced the week before, but please advise of any preferences you may have in the comments section below.
Showcase has many screens and so its not essential that we all see the same film.
If you do not already have an Insider card please consider applying for one at www.showcasecincemans.co.uk. It's free and entitles you to discounts for showings after 7pm Sunday and all day Monday and Tuesday, plus 10% rewards on tickets, snacks and drinks.
There are other discount schemes available for both the meal and film, such as Meerkat Movies, so bring your cards along and we'll do our best to share out the savings!
The above timings may change dependant upon the film selected.
This event is also advertised on Leeds Theatre Socials.
One of the most popular of all operas, Verdi's 'La Traviata' tells the story of a tragic romance set in the glamorous society of 19C Paris. The music is glorious, and accessible even for opera novices. There will be at least one interval, and there is a bar available at the cinema.
I can reserve tickets beforehand, to be paid at the box office on the day. Tickets are usually about £12-14 for these events.
Meet in the foyer by the main doors at 6.15.
