What we’re about

"The best people in life are the ones who love to eat." ~ Julia Childs.

Join this meetup if you love to eat rustic, non-processed cuisine, or have a desire to learn how to cook simple and healthy meals – all while meeting new people. How's that for killing two birds with one stone?

I'm a passionate foodie who hails from Sydney but have been working in Hong Kong for the past 8 years in the finance world and now, the startup industry. Creativity runs through my veins and I love connecting and inspiring people, teaching cooking, and hosting dinner parties.

As a self-taught cook, I have been running my healthy recipe blog designed for busy working professionals for more than 3 years now (www.kitchenmess.com), teaching cooking workshops on weekends and, last but not least, running my fortnightly supper club events which connects like-minded people over a hearty home-cooked feast made with love by me (www.flirtyfridays.com).

It is my belief that connecting with new people over a shared meal is the best medium for forming new bonds with people from all walks of life. My cooking workshops are designed for time-constrained working professionals who have limited time and cooking skills, but yet desire to create healthy dishes utilising fresh and non processed ingredients so typically found in the staple Hong Kong diet.

My workshops are hands on (after all, best way to learn cooking is if you get your hands dirty). In the course of 2 hours or so, you will learn how to craft 2-3 elegant and hearty dishes from scratch that would surely impress your friends/date. Pictures from past workshops can be found on my facebook group "Kitchenmess cooking workshops and supper clubs" (or link from my blog www.kitchenmess.com).

On the other hand, my supper clubs, which I have dubbed "FlirtyFridays", are for those who don't want to get their hands dirty but could revel in the gift of gab and enjoy meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and cultures (call it "social networking" if you may). Here, I do all the work – from the organisation and curation of the crowd (to ensure good social chemistry), to the devising of the menu, actual cooking and hosting of the dinner party. All you need to do is bring your A-game – and bottle of booze if you may – as an additional social lubricant. Pictures from my events can be found on my facebook page @flirtyfridaysxo and also on my website www.flirtyfridays.com (please sign up on homepage here!).

A recent write up about my supper clubs can also be read here: https://hivelife.com/flirtyfridays/

I am looking forward to meeting all of you one day in flesh. I hope to inspire and connect you all!
