Come to the May, 2017 KMA DC meeting: TAXONOMY BEST PRACTICES

In your organization, is it easy for employees to search for documents and find the content they are looking for? Or is it common to hear staff say that “search doesn’t work” or that they “can’t find what they need”? Taxonomy design is a fundamental component of any information management initiative and it requires a user-centric methodology and a governance framework to be effective. Taxonomy and metadata provide a structure to label and organize content within a website, intranet, or digital library, ultimately to achieve improved content usability and findability.

This presentation will address the following topics on taxonomy design:

• Taxonomy design methodology;
• Taxonomy design best practices;
• Taxonomy validation techniques;
• Uses and benefits of taxonomy; and
• Taxonomy governance and evolution.
