Kotlin Budapest Meetup - December

Details
Save the date for the last Kotlin Budapest Meetup of the year!
We'll have an impressive lineup, with the following speakers & talks:
-
Marco Gomiero, Senior Android Engineer @ TIER & Kotlin GDE (live talk)
Talk title: Introducing Kotlin Multiplatform in an existing project
Abstract: After discovering a new interesting technology or framework, you will probably start asking yourself how to integrate it into an existing project. That's because, the possibility to start with a blank canvas is rare (not impossible, but rare). This is also the case for Kotlin Multiplatform, and even though it is still in alpha, you can already start to use it in production applications. In this talk, we will understand which part of the code can be a starting point for sharing, how to consume the shared code and how to structure an existing project to have an as smooth as possible integration. -
Dániel Gergely, Android Engineer @ TIER (live talk)
Talk title: Clean up state handling with a state machine
Abstract: As the TIER app grew bigger, to keep the code maintainable, we retrofitted a state machine for managing ride state in the app. In this talk I’ll provide a brief overview of why and how we implemented it, the benefits it has brought, and the challenges we had to face introducing it. -
Jens Stegemann, Head of IT-Architecture & Data Analytics & Jan Weidenhaupt, Application Engineer @ Oeffentliche Insurance (joint live online talk)
Talk Title: Building a PWA in Kotlin using fritz2
Abstract: We will demonstrate how to build a chat app as a responsive PWA in Kotlin from scratch using fritz2 and Ktor. You will see how to setup a project, build and use components, style them, handle the state of your application as well as how to communicate with your backend (Rest and WebSockets) , sharing your data-model and validation-code between front- and backend.
General info:
- The safety of our community is still our top priority, therefore we'll limit the attendee number to 30 people, and we will ask for an immunity certificate upon entry - thank you for your understanding!
- Videos of the event will be uploaded to our Kotlin Budapest YouTube channel after the event
- All talks will be in English as usual
- Doors open at 6.30 pm, and we'll start the talks at 7 pm. After the talks, we can stay to chat.
P.S.:
We are looking for more teams/people to share their experience around Kotlin, so if you would like to speak at the next event, please contact us via this form (https://bit.ly/3nv5VfK), at the event.
