Kotlin Budapest Meetup - May

Details

Save the date for an exciting Kotlin Budapest Meetup at a brand-new venue!

As usual, we'll have an impressive lineup:

  • Amanda Hinchman-Dominguez, Android engineer @ Groupon, Kotlin GDE

Talk title: A Brief History of Memory Leaks
Abstract: Memory and threading in Android is some of the most difficult and complicated topics in Android. This talk introduces what memory leaks are, and why they’re so hard to find. Taken from excerpts of the newly published O'Reilly book "Programming Android with Kotlin: Achieving Structure Concurrency with Coroutines", this talk take a light-hearted approach at some of the colorful developments Android has gone through the years. From “Why did AsyncTask get deprecated?” to resource leaks in background threads, we look at memory leaks in Android as we’ve uncovered them through the years. To understand quirks of memory leaks in Android, join us for some historical context, a little empathy, and a kinder view of open-source development.

  • Kaan Enes Kapici, Application Engineer @ QNB Finansbank

Talk title: Clean Code Guideline For Kotlin: KTLint
Abstract: Rules we need to know to write quality clean and understandable code.

  • István Juhos, Senior Android Engineer @ TIER Mobility

Talk title: How to Test Your Compose UI
Abstract: Jetpack Compose is the new and shiny framework that can finally replace XMLs and the View system in Android projects. While Compose is easy to adopt, not creating legacy code right at the start of such a journey requires some extra planning, awareness, and testing. In this talk, you'll have a quick look at how you can set up, write, and run Compose UI tests and how to write clean, testable composables.
