Introduction to Android programming with Kotlin by Jolanda from Coolblue!
Google officially supports Kotlin as a programming language for Android Development. So if you know Kotlin, you might as well become an Android Developer!
During this evening we will dive into the world of Android. Jolanda will first explain how programming for Android devices differs from programming for servers. Then we will follow one of Google's Codelabs, which will walk you through creating your very first Android App.
To program for Android, you need an IDE and the right SDKs, and optionally an installed emulator. To prevent all of us downloading GBs at the venue, please follow the instructions below:
- Follow the first three steps in the Codelab: https://codelabs.developers.google.com/codelabs/build-your-first-android-app-kotlin/index.html
- Make sure you can run the app either on your phone or in an emulator.
