Composable, FSM driven UX flows for web apps

🤖Abstract:
How and why we've separated UI from logic driving the user flows in WH payments subsystem. We'll talk about UX/logic separation benefits and challenges; How Finite State Machine formalism aids in such separation; How simple middle layer helps us with composing complex journeys from re-usable fragments; How and why we've defined heavy-lifting payments logic on the BE, seamlessly mixing it with FE logic fragments; How our take on UX/logic separation + used extras (middle layer) simplifies further development and evolution of already deployed app

About the speaker:

Lured by fame and glory of late 80s demoscene I’ve started my coding adventure in the 8-bit world. Soon being a developer became my second nature and naturally morphed into a professional career by mid-90s’. Twenty-odd years later I’m happily using my knowledge, skills and experience to design systems, applications and algorithms for our brave, digitized world.

Working for William Hill for almost 4 years I’ve helped to migrate company systems to AWS, designed and overseen the implementation of several key common services used throughout all company products - for last year focusing on the payments area. As a lead architect I routinely work with a team of architects as well as developer teams – supporting them in problem-solving, development and services integration/alignment into a coherent system.
