What we're about

Krav Maga Michigan is non-profit club that offers self defense classes as part of the Next Step Rec program provided by the Dexter United Methodist Church (https://www.dexterumc.org/). For those unfamiliar with “Krav Maga”, it is a martial arts system developed and used by the Israeli Defense Force. It combines techniques from several martial arts into a very effective and realistic form of self-defense. The system is taught to military, police, and civilians around the world. It is not a sport, but a skill that will help members defend themselves and their family, should the need arise. As you might also guess, it is a form of exercise, but with a purpose.

The club is run by a team that includes long time students, but may include other instructors when they are available. Our training sessions are free and open to the public. All instructors volunteer their time. Krav Maga Michigan operates under the premise that members are there to help each other learn. The number one goal of members is to be a safe training partner for other members. We are not there to compete, but to cooperate and provide each other opportunities to improve our skills to protect ourselves and our families.

The curriculum will include techniques and practices from several styles of Krav Maga. The club itself will not have any formal affiliation with any style of Krav Maga, but will operate independently of any Krav Maga organization. We will also include techniques from different martial arts as the club evolves. If you are looking for more formal training opportunities we would direct you to other schools in the area.

You must be 18 or older to join this group or register for training sessions. Families are welcome, but minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Minors being accompanied by parent or guardian must be 14 years or older.
