K4K Christmas Caroling

Dear Songbirds,

Meetup's mission is to revitalize local community and help people around the world self-organize. They believe that people can change their personal world, or the whole world, by organizing themselves into groups that are powerful enough to make a difference.

With that in mind, I believe that nothing speaks to the heart like a song, which is why I love karaoke. As a community service project, I would like for members of K4K to donate their time and talents to sing Christmas Carols at various nursing homes/hospitals in Indianapolis.

Songs will be sung as a group, hopefully with some harmonies. I will provide the words for songs and we can either sing acapella (without music) or with instrumental music played on an mp3 through a small sound system. We can determine that later.

Here is what I can provide:
1. Rehearsals at my house. Sunday afternoons are the best rehearsal times for me, but I am flexible.
2. A piano so we can work on songs with the harmonies
3. A list of all my Christmas music in my karaoke collection so we can choose songs.
4. A CD or mp3 of the karaoke Christmas songs we select.
5. Two mics and a portable sound system.

If you would like to participate, here is what you will need to do:
1. Commit to 2-3 rehearsals prior to the Christmas Holiday Season.
2. Commit to attending a minimum of 3 caroling events with one on a weekend. We can rotate people around based on their schedules.
3. Send me an email telling me that you are interested and what part you would like to sing, i.e. soprano, alto, tenor, baritone or bass.
4. Bring a thin, 3 hole, black binder to keep your music in.
5. Help me arrange locations to sing. If you have a loved one in a nursing home, that’s a great place to start.

Send me an email and let me know what you think.

Barbara H
