What we're about

Curious about real kungfu?
Come and train together in two ancient and revered styles: Bak Mei and Wah San, which are complementary in combat/fitness and overall wellness.

Bak Mei is a Shaolin-derived practical combat style which builds fitness, body coordination, and strength.

Wah San is a predecessor to TaiChi, and focuses on overall wellness, improving energy/ qi flow while strengthening core muscles to improve posture.

Our Singapore class is led by Shi Khai, who is a senior student of Sifu Gary Koh. You can read more about our styles and lineage below, or visit our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/gkacademymalaysia/

At Sifu Gary Koh’s International Kungfu Academy, we have two ancient and revered styles: Wah San and Bak Mei

Wah San Luk Hup Bhat Fatt

Luk Hup Batt Fatt (LHBF) is founded by Chen Hsi Yi and based upon Taoist principles. The entire system is a way of life based on living in harmony with the universe. As such, all its philosophies, concepts, patterns, weapons and meditations are fluid, dynamic and effortless.

LHBF is therefore softer, slower and more difficult to understand and train than any comparable internal style like Tai Chi. It is also the oldest and most advanced of internal styles, being the predecessor to styles like Tai Chi, Ba Gua, and Xing Yi Fist. LHBF has for over a thousand years represented the highest wisdom and virtues of Taoist-based Chinese martial arts. Unfortunately, very few people in the world today know of this style because it has been a closely kept secret. Those who mastered the art have taught only a chosen few.

The meditation (standing, lying, and moving) techniques are widely considered as the most advanced in martial arts history. The open hand forms of LHBF are the most fluid and powerful internal forms among all styles of Chinese kung fu. It is reputed that practitioners of this style enjoy a level of health, wisdom, and longevity akin to the immortals.

Bak Mei

Bak Mei is Shaolin–based, derived by the greatest Shaolin Grandmaster of all time – Bak Mei. It is the most dynamic, direct and comprehensive practical combat style of martial arts ever devised. Every technique or movement with weapons or freehand is calculated to overwhelm and destroy the enemy.

It differs from other styles by its total lack of frills and complete mastery of the body mechanism and energy system. Its pole patterns are considered the most advanced in Chinese Kung Fu.

Bak Mei amongst all great masters in Chinese history, has a special place as the ultimate warrior defeating some of the greatest masters of Chinese kung fu in his lifetime. His interpretation and refinement of the highest philosophies, concepts, principles and techniques of Shaolin kung fu are reflected in the majesty of his unarmed open-handed hand forms and classical weapons. Advanced Bak Mei hand patterns (18 Immortal Hands and Mighty Tiger Emerging From The Forest) are accepted as the benchmarks of perfection in respect of Chinese kung fu skills training. The legendary Left-Handed Fisherman Pole is considered the high point of pole training for which all masters of pole training aspire to.

No one in the history of Chinese martial arts has compared himself to Bak Mei for he has remained etched in the hearts and minds of all kung fu masters as the ultimate warrior and his techniques and philosophies for combat are the most advanced. So advanced was Bak Mei’s knowledge of Qi Gong he was able to reduce his Qi points to one and move it throughout his body, making it impossible for his enemies to defeat him.
