Hey everyone, just a quick note to let you all know of all the events coming up this month at L.L. Bean!

Kayak and Standup Paddle Boarding continues every weekend at Shawnee Mission Park.  August is a great time to try paddle sports as the weather and water are great, but we don't seem to have as many really hot days like we do in July.  The classes can fill up really quickly, so if you're interested, sign up as soon as you can. Come give these sports a try!

There are a number of great clinics, demonstrations and outings scheduled, including a trail run at Shawnee Mission Park, a hike outing at Prairie Center in Olathe, and how to's  on everything from GoPro to knives/multi-tools to birding/binoculars.

Two events of note, we are partnering with Ironwoods Park on hosting a viewing of the Solar Eclipse on August 21st.  We're providing glasses for viewing and there will be lots of activities for all ages sponsored by Leawood Parks and Rec.  We also hosting a showing of the documentary, "Elephants in the Coffee", on august 16th.  This movie was made by a local businessman, Bhaskar Krishnamurthy, and looks at the relationship between coffee growers and native elephants in southern India.  It has been nominated for or won several awards, so it promises to be a great evening.

That's it for now.  Look forward to seeing you soon.  Happy paddling!!
