What we're about

Hi and Welcome!

My name is Ted Edwards and I have recently "saved" the group from being disbanded and have paid the fee to become the organizer! I am so excited to bring fun and positivity to the members and to everyone involved. I am also the co-organizer of another large group so I have a lot of experience with this whole meet up thing. I will be creating a new structure within the group and a lot of fun events and ways to engage.

A little about me (Some details at the end of the letter if you’d like to know more!):

I was exposed to video games at a young age and have been an avid gamer since the 1980s. I am currently the CEO / Creative Producer/ Host of Alien Genome® - a new entertainment and media concept with the goal of evolving our culture and building a positive community through video games/gaming. I do this by providing intelligent, fun and engaging content consisting of a collection of scripted shows, live streams, live events and game tournaments online and at local venues to bring the best in gaming, education and positivity to the community.

First of all, I would love your feedback on the group and any information you can give me. That’s important. My assistant producer, Redd Yoachum, with my company is currently the assistant organizer with me.

Goals of this group:

Video games are a common bond that bridge many demographics, unite industries, harbor friendships, and connect cultures. I believe in the power of video games and entertainment media as a catalyst for positive change on a global scale.

I want to make sure that the group is active and everyone involved has a voice and WANTS to participate. Our community will aim to educate and engage with one another, not by preaching, but by creating an all-inclusive community where ideas are shared, knowledge is gained and fun is to be had from an intelligent and uplifting perspective. I encourage all of our members to engage with me and each other directly to help evolve our culture in a positive way. Video games are FUN!!! Life is FUN!! My sentiment and outlook will always reflect this adage.

If you want something awesome to do, interesting people to talk to, exciting events to go to, fun food to eat, and caring charities in the gaming industry to support, then this is the place for you. I’m excited to showcase all there is in our Los Angeles area and meet a great group of people from a variety of backgrounds. Whether you love Video Games, Board Games, D&D, Star Trek, you name it, together we can create a positive place to share in our passions!

I ask that you join the new discord server! (invitation link here and below: https://discord.gg/6cKkfYr) With this server I will be announcing new events, we can get to know each other, discuss cool topics, chat while streaming and I will be holding weekly meeting via voice chat there! So please join and let's build this community!

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and I look forward to speaking with you soon. Feel free to contact me at the information below.

I played many sports growing up and continued with football in college. I earned my Bachelors of Science Degree in Biochemistry/Genetics and my Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics. As a strength and conditioning coach and sports nutritionist, I have worked with top college, professional and Olympic athletes in the world ensuring they achieve maximum performance. I still consult and work with professional teams and world performance organizations today.

I was exposed to video games at a very young age. In 1989, I got an NES for Christmas and the rest is history. From that moment, video games would be a part of my life forever. As kid I also spent time coding my own video games on PC in BASIC, writing HTML websites at the dawn of the internet and frequented arcades. Balancing my love of video games and being a “big jock” was difficult to do because of discrimination in the 90’s for nerd culture. Today I find it difficult on the other end of the spectrum, getting questions like “oh do you actually play video games or just work out.” I want to build positivity in our culture.

I am fan of just about every game genre, but I lean towards strategy, lengthy immersive RPG’s and story based actions games. My favorite genre is RTS (when they made good ones) in which I was a competitive player on the international level in the Age of Empires games. I love old school games and will be streaming them a lot on my twitch channel http://www.twitch.tv/tedwards44!
