What we’re about
The Los Angeles Black Underwater Explorers (LABUE) is a SCUBA diving club that has been dedicated to expanding the knowledge and enjoyment of SCUBA diving among African-Americans since 1992. Despite our name we welcome those of all races.
LABUE strives to provide "something for everyone" in the exciting world of SCUBA diving. Supported by more than 100 members, LABUE has found success by offering a wide variety dive opportunities including beach dives, boat dives, tropical dive vacation trips to some of the most popular dive destinations on earth, and an array of enjoyable social and networking activities.
LABUE has something to satisfy a wide range of SCUBA diving skill levels; and dive interests from technical diving, to UW photography, hunting, UW archeology, and more. We also regularly introduces non-divers to the sport through our Discover Scuba Program. LABUE general membership, committee members, and the board of directors are are volunteers who have worked together to take LABUE to new heights throughout the years.
We have some wonderfully talented divers who dedicated themselves to scuba dive with the latest and at the most forefront guidelines and practices of the sport's standards. Good morning Everyone,
It has been a pleasure to have 5 months of in-person community building in the SoCal Black dive world! I'm super bummed that I missed it, but I've heard that the most recent meetup in Catalina was beautiful and had fun exploration.
As we continue to expand these efforts, we need your input and support!On Wednesday, August 6th at 7:00 PM, there will be a Zoom Meeting to discuss the dive plans for the coming month and improve our dive plans. Folks have discussed interest in boat dives, camping, and traveling. This is the perfect place to get those ideas out and generally plan these events.
Our first meeting in June allowed us to select the dive location for the next two months. As we continue to develop these meetups, it'd be amazing for folks to continue to join planning discussions! Let's keep that ball rolling and use this as a space to provide feedback on ways to improve our dive programming. We are nothing without community!
