Alexandre Passant presents seevl: data-driven music discovery

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Dear Meetup Member,
We just wanted to give you the heads up that our speaker, Alexandre Passant, has informed us that his plane from overseas is running late. So we are revising the schedule a bit.
7:00pm to 7:30pm we will do networking. 7:30pm Eric Franzon and Alan Baker will provide a bit of an introduction to Semantics and music with some music-related SPARQL queries, RDF and JSON-LD examples.
Then Alexandre will speak when he arrives.
Sorry for the last minute change.

data-driven music discovery
Music discovery is an exciting field, not only for music lovers, but also for start-ups, engineers and product people, as there are still un-tapped opportunities to let consumers discover new music. In this talk, I'd discuss why and how we've built seevl, focusing on the challenges we faced and architecture decision we've made, such as building a fully-RDF-based infrastructure or optimizing query processing, while at the same time delivering a simple and efficient UX to our users.

With more than 10 years of experience in Web technologies, leading R&D projects funded - among others - by Google or Cisco, he drives the company vision from the business and technology side. He loves hacking on music-related data, and collecting (and spinning) records.
