Teaching can be an isolating profession in the best of circumstances–but even more so for those who teach a community language or LCTL (less commonly taught language) and may be one of only a few teachers of that language in the city or even state. Beat the isolation blues by joining our Critical & Community Language Teachers’ Circle, a monthly coffee group dedicated to connecting language teachers from diverse teaching communities and backgrounds.
The teacher circle is for teachers or aspiring teachers of LCTLs or community languages at any grade level or educational setting, particularly those that are highly represented in the Seattle area. Aspiring teachers are also welcome. The languages we support include but are not limited to:
- Arabic - Cantonese - Korean - Persian - Russian - Somali - Tagalog (Filipino) - Ukrainian - Vietnamese
This list is not definitive and we'd love to hear from you if you teach a community language that is not on this list. However, this is really for teachers of languages without extensive programming or support in schools and universities, so we are not able to support teachers of Spanish, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, ASL, or Japanese.
