Weekend Warrior Series: Day Hike - Mine Hill & Carter Preserves, Roxbury CT
Come explore the 520 acre Carter & Mine Hill wildlife preserves of Roxbury, CT. Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, Mine Hill is home to a 19th century iron mine and furnace complex that was acquired by The Roxbury Land Trust in 1978. During our 4mi hike around the preserve, we will tour the stone and brick remains, learning about the iron making process as well as Mine Hill's historic importance to the region.
What to Bring on our hike:
trail snacks water (at least 32oz aka 1000ml aka 1 reg nalgene) Day pack rain gear (waterproof jacket & pants) non-cotton weather appropriate active apparel (think lots of layers; no cotton clothing, especially jeans!) Hiking boots/shoes Trekking Poles or hiking stick camera hat bandanna Sunscreen Bugspray (seasonal) Positive Attitude and a smile **Save yourself some time by printing and signing your L.L.Bean Outing Club Participation Agreement at home before leaving to meet us at the trailhead.
