Speakers and Talks:

Luke Bond (https://twitter.com/lukeb0nd) - DevOps Engineer

Node.js and Kubernetes

In this talk Luke will introduce Kubernetes to Node developers, discussing the advantages of running Node.js on Kubernetes, the kind of applications that are best suited to this, and give a demo of running a small distributed application on Kubernetes.

Luke is a developer turned DevOps engineer; over the years he has done a lot of work with Node.js and containers, including consulting for YLD helping help teams release software more regularly and with increased confidence by leveraging DevOps best practices and containers.

Jon Sherrard (https://twitter.com/jshez) - Technical Architect at Shortlist Media (http://shortlist.studio/)

Announcing Tapestry - Headless WordPress with React and Node

Build for WordPress like it’s 2017 - React and Node.JS components, client-side navigation, modern CSS solutions, and Webpack - with no trade-offs like abandoning server-side rendering. I’d like to introduce a tool we’re building called Tapestry, and talk through the pain points of reproducing the theming layer of WordPress entirely in JavaScript.

Jon is a Technical Architect at Shortlist Media (http://shortlist.studio/) and has previously worked in the publishing industry for most of his career, moving from data-entry to technical implementations. Jon is interested in using and building tools that enable small teams to deliver cutting-edge, world-class websites.
