Gretchen, President - LPGA Amateur Golf Association St. Louis ChapterThe LPGA Amateur Golf

Association St. Louis Chapter, Formerly Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA) St. Louis Chapter, founded in 1999, is one of many LPGA Amateur Golf Association chapters across the nation (and around the world). Our mission is to provide opportunities for women to learn, play and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life. To this end, our chapter sponsors several evening leagues, open weekend play dates, and networking events. We are also a proud sponsor of First Tee of Greater St. Louis, we support organizations whose missions are to improve women's lives through golf. I am proud to say that here in St. Louis, we have a diverse membership any way you look at it.

HQ organizes our annual regional stroke play and team match play national tournaments. These tourneys are all flighted by handicap, so even novices can feel like a pro! They also interact with the PGA, LPGA and the golf industry to provide information and buying opportunities to our members. HQ also makes it easy to find a group to play golf with when you are travelling or relocating.

All of this doesn't happen without drawing on the abilities of our members and the annual dues we pay. Locally and nationally we rely on members to fill various boards and committees, host an event here, make a phone call there. Want to learn how to maintain a website? Join our communications committee. Want to organize a golf event? Join our events committee. You get the idea! I like to say that an LPGA Amatuer Golf Association membership can help build your game, your resume and your circle of friends! Have I piqued your interest?

Play Date at Normandie Golf Club

Needs a location

It has been a while since we have played the historic Normandie Golf Club which slated for a major renovation. Don’t let the Par 71 and relatively short 4950 yards fool you. This is a vintage parkland course with lots of ups and downs and blind shots. The rating/slope of 68.3/115 indicates a less challenging course than you will find. But it is great fun, great value and a great cause.

History: Built in 1901, Normandie Golf Club is purported to be the oldest public golf course still in operation in its original location, west of the Mississippi River. It was designed in St. Louis by Robert Foulis, a golf course architect and apprentice of Old Tom Morris of St. Andrews, Scotland fame.

The real fun? Dinner and drinks to follow at Pat’s house, located 1 mile from the course in Normandy!

Cost is $35 for 18 holes and a cart.

Gateway National golf!

Needs a location

Enjoy the view back to the Gateway Arch!
Beat the heat with early morning golf at a gorgeous course.
Designed by renowned golf course architect, Keith Foster, and developed by Tim Crowley and Denny Walters, Gateway National remains the only true links-style golf course in the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
Gateway National offers you the rare opportunity to return to the rich traditions of the game. Rolling links, separated by gentle mounds, meander through lush, green pasturelands. Tall grasses, lakes, wood-tie bunkers, and occasional giant cottonwoods complete the landscape. In view of the magnificent Gateway Arch, you will cross occasional stone bridges, glide on raised boardwalks and walk through quiet wetlands.
A fearsome 7178 yard par 71 from the championship tees, our course has four sets of more manageable tees for the enjoyment of those not quite up to the challenge of the PGA Tour caliber layout. Pick the length that suits your enjoyment of the game. The large greens, once reached, offer ample opportunity for birdies! Lunch afterwards right there at their clubhouse. Cost is $74.99 for 18 and cart! The groups are below. Please arrive at 8. First group goes out at 8:30!

Eastside 9 at Stonewolf

Needs a location

Jack Nicklaus has designed some of the best and most inspiring golf courses in the world – and Stonewolf is among these. The consensus is that once you get past the first 4 holes, your round will go from impossible to merely challenging. But it is all fun. Cost is $35 for 9 holes and cart AND a raincheck for a future 9 holes and cart. (This is beats the $30 nine hole price).

Tuesday Evening at Four Seasons Country Club

Needs a location

Open since 1962, Four Seasons Country Club is a classic example of “park land” golf.
Features include rolling fairways and mature tree-lined fairways that favor shot making over brute distance. So, be prepared to use every club in your bag.

Cost is $18 walking (pull carts available for $6) and $29 if riding.
