What we're about
Sharon welcomes you to Kayak Arizona! First and foremost, we love to 'yak! A great place to meet other paddling enthusiasts of a similar level, we are happy you have found us! We are a group of active recreational kayakers who enjoy being on the water with other upbeat positive people. Our goal is not to have a large membership, but rather to have an active one. This will be a "participant only" group, (maximum of 50 members) so please request to join only if you are planning to join us on our trips. Those who do not join us on at least one trip every 4 months, will be removed from the group, to make room for someone else waiting to join.
Our main goal is to have a group of experienced, responsible paddlers that want to build camaraderie to enjoy paddles on various lakes with the aim of having a great time, getting to know each other and watching out for one another. Come out and experience the wonder of our beautiful lakes with us, a great way to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
We do not put ourselves out there as experts, we are just your ordinary individuals who enjoy outdoor pursuits and every member will take full responsibility for their own safety and must know how to do a self rescue.
This is a friendly group and everyone would like to know who our other members are, so EVERYONE is required to have a close-up for a profile photo so they are clearly recognizable to others. You will not be approved until you have a proper photo posted.
Sharon (and her pup, Lexi, who joins us on all the paddles), is a Canadian and is only in town for six months of the year, so will be posting paddles from Nov. 1st to May 1st. Mike Snow will be posting paddles during the summer months.
SIGNED WAIVER - Meetup.com recommends that each Meetup group set up its own release of liability to protect its organizers and members. We will have each member sign a waiver before the first time they paddle with us which we will keep in our files. Every kayak rental, lesson or boating excursion requires similar forms so we are only asking the same.
