**Free, first come, first served.** Come along to this hands-on session of basic programming with our cool Code-a-Pillars. By arranging and re-arranging the segments of the caterpillars your children will have fun while learning about directions, sequencing and problem-solving. An interactive session to give your child their first taste for coding.
**Free, first come, first served (limited spaces)** Join us for a cultural Virtual Reality expedition around the world. Visit the Seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites and explore their area, landscape, weather and much more. IMPORTANT: This is a loosely supervised session and your child will be able to roam the library alone in the short break mid-session.
**Free, book in advance at the library, also turn up on the day to see if there are any spare spaces.** Join us in this fabulous family workshop and introduction to the exciting world of 3D digital design! Come and learn the basics - Have a go at using popular 3D Design software, see a 3D printer in action, 3D Scan your creations… These are some of the amazing things you will be trying out! Working together, you and your child will confidently be able to use 3D design software, 3D scan and 3D print a personal item. Session is led by an expert tutor who is an industry professional. Come and be amazed at what the latest technology can do. IMPORTANT: This is a family learning workshop with a maximum of two children per accompanying adult. Arrive promptly as otherwise your place will be given to someone on the waiting list.
**This session is free, book in advance at the library, also turn up on the day to see if there are any spare spaces.** Learn with your child to build a blooming flower robot by engineering together recycled materials and popular electronic components. You will be programming the BBC micro:bit and tapping into its inputs and outputs to control an external motor. A jaw-dropping experience when you illuminate your flower with a light! No previous experience necessary. If you can, please bring with you a big clean and used cardboard cup and other recycled materials of your choice to decorate the petals of your flower robot. This workshop is part of our “Reuse, Recycle...Robots” project supported by Carnegie Library Lab. Delivered by Redbridge Institute. IMPORTANT: this is a family learning workshop with a maximum of two children per accompanying adult. Arrive promptly as otherwise your place will be given to someone on the waiting list. You will need to complete an enrolment form on the day. Courses are subject to a minimum number of enrolments and could be cancelled if recruitment is low.
