As design and design thinking continue to gain traction and a larger share of the spotlight, how do we as designers keep up? How to do we express our findings and work in a way that business leaders trust and gains us a ‘seat at the table’? It comes down to findings a way to bridge the gap between design methodology and business practices. Specifically, building a familiarity with value-based outcomes and quantitative approaches to qualitative research findings. This isn’t a new problem, we will spend a little bit looking at the historical context and then dive into what I have learned about the space between design and business working at BCG.

Lauren Everett is a Lead Strategic Designer at BCG Platinion, the division of the Boston Consulting Group with expertise in IT and product implementation. For the past four years, she has worked closely with business consultant teams to ensure the voice of the customer and usability is present throughout business strategy development and new product implementation. Prior to becoming a UX Research, Lauren worked as a designer and construction manager bringing high-end hospitality and retail experiences to life.
