What we're about

Calling all adventure hikers! This is a group for walkers and outdoor adventurers of all different ages, skill levels and body shapes. There is no fee to be in this group, but if you want to chip in towards the semi-annual Meetup dues, come talk to me. I started this group to get off the couch and get to know the people in the community. Fitness is easier in numbers. Good for your heart socially, emotionally and physically. We will walk at designated times and places. Try to remain active in the group. Suggestions for new activities are encouraged. And if you want to help post/organize events, let me know. Different is good!

Oakland Historical Walk (west of Winter Garden) ~ 5 miles

Needs a location

Join in on another historical walking tour - this time in the quaint little town of Oakland which is just west of Winter Garden gives us citrus heritage surrounding the southern shores of Lake Apopka.

And for those who want to continue the conversation, we'll pick a lunch spot in Winter Garden.

Hosted in conjunction with the Central Florida Chapter of the Florida Trail Association.

Christmas in July - Lake Louisa SP Hike & Picnic (3 or 6 mile options)

Yes, there are summer hikes.... Here is an opportunity to gather together for a hike and then relax together for a picnic along the shores of Lake Louisa. To help us forget about the heat, let's think of "Christmas in July"!

Hikers will all start off together with a 3 mile loop and those with greater stamina can continue to complete a 6 mile figure eight. Trails range from sugar sand to packed soil and from exposed to filtered sun to shady. Be prompt, but don't panic as we know it will be about 8:30 am by the time everyone filters in through the gate and makes the drive back to the large parking lot by Lake Louisa.

Lake Louisa State Park is a 4,500 acre park noted for its beautiful lakes, rolling hills and scenic landscapes. Lake Louisa, the largest in a chain of 13 lakes, is designated as an Outstanding Florida Water Way.

State Park admission fees apply: $5.00 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle; $4.00 Single Occupant Vehicle; $2.00 Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.

We'll have a grill going with some hot dogs. Plates, plastic-ware, and napkins provided. Bring a dish to share, your favorite non-adult beverage, and a camp chair. Want something else on the grill, bring it DIY and make the rest of us drool. Swimming is available in the lake. Holiday clothing and decorations encouraged.
