What we're about

Lake Michigan Sailing Club began in 2016 and sails from five Lake Michigan harbors: Waukegan, Winthrop Harbor, Kenosha, Racine, and Milwaukee. We are a sailing club interested in putting boat owners and crew together. You don't have to own a boat to be a member of Lake Michigan Sailing Club. We need crew to assist our boat owners in sailing their boat. If you don't know how to sail, but want to learn, we are willing to help you. Let us invite you out as our guest.

Club Statement: COVID-19

Due to the improvements in health issues related to COVID-19, LMSC was able to sponsor sailing events in 2021 and 2022. We greatly missed sailing in 2020! Sailing events for 2023 and will be posted in the May timeframe. Our monthly meetings will continue to be online using ZOOM. They include educational and entertaining programming.

To all members of Lake Michigan Sailing Club,
It has come to the attention of the LMSC Board that not all members have been upfront regarding their COVID vaccination status. In addition, several members have recently tested positive for COVID. Because of this, the Board has decided that proof of vaccination must be submitted and and reviewed for compliance before attendance at any in-person event. This applies to anyone attending club events, including plus ones.
We will require that all members forward a copy of their vaccine card directly to the commodore of LMSC at: tazbugs48@gmail.com. The vaccine cards will NOT be kept after review by the commodore. Each member will be given a designation of a V after their name on Meetup to signify that they have fulfilled the requirement. If anyone objects to this guideline, that is their prerogative to do so. However, they will not be allowed to participate in any Lake Michigan Sailing Club events. We sincerely hope that all comply, since it is in the interest of the entire club to stay safe and healthy. Most of us by now have either directly or indirectly experienced the devastating and lasting effects of this illness.  Some of us have lost family members and/or friends as well.
Let us be safe out there and have fair winds.
Your Commodore,
Barry Bernstein

Time to go sailing on C'est La Vie!

58th Street

It is time to go sailing out of Kenosha, Wisconsin, where C'est La Vie is for the summer. Bring your PFD, boat shoes, warm clothes and some food to share with everyone. I have some beer and rum to pass around after we comeback. Let us cross our fingers for good weather. Remember, If you sign up and then you can't make it, RSVP "NO" so someone else could sail.
Thank you.
Barry
PS: If this is your first time sailing, make sure you get a good night sleep, minimize your alcohol intake and eat breakfast.

Please remember the captain is responsible and in charge of his or her boat. Listen, observe, ask questions and learn. Ask what you can do to help. You will be physically active and acting as one of the crew on a sailboat, not just going for a boat ride; participate and enjoy the experience.

If you are a dues-paying member, remember that you can bring a guest. Just RSVP that you are doing so. Your guest will need to fill out a One -Time Guest application -Link to app: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf8eRYOoGZVoyBR9Xewyp8L4ogKWwxTbMnXVXK71R7YVR4u_A/viewform?usp=sf_link
on-line before they come out. Please have your guest print out their application and present to the boat owner when you arrive to go out sailing. We will inform the boat owner that we have received the application also. LMSC is requiring that ALL participants be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination must be submitted and reviewed for compliance before attendance at any in-person event. See COVID safety measures below regarding submitting proof. See note for non-paid members, below, if they wish to come out again.

For non-paid members, we must have your signed Temporary Guest Membership Application on file before you can RSVP for an event and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. See COVID safety measures below regarding submitting proof. Please click on “What we’re about” on our Meetup website and follow the instructions on “HOW TO SAIL WITH US”. We want you to sail with us!! Once we have your application, you may come out as our temporary guest up to three (3) times. Full paid members are given first chance on making an RSVP for a sail, with any openings left to be filled by temporary members that have turned in their temporary member applications and have not sailed more than three times. Sometime during your first three times you should be invited by a board member to join our club as a paid member so that you can continue sailing with us.

NOTE: Only paid members can invite a guest. If you want someone else to sail with you, please have them go through the process of joining us on Meetup and they will be sent the link to fill the Temporary Guest Membership application. Once they are approved, they may RSVP for the event.
