This gentle class will suit all levels and will soothe and relax you like nothing else. This class is still dynamic and will stretch and lengthen every muscle in your body from your head to your toes, but it will do so in a gentle, soothing, and relaxing way. No yoga experience required, beginners welcome. Please join us to Relax, Let Go, and ENJOY! WHY DO WE DO THIS? Bring a mat (or large towel) a friend & positive karma. As of June, 2018 all donations collected in this community class will be donated to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. This is description by Jessica Macedo (New Karma Yoga instructor as of March 28, 2019) describing the yoga she will implement during her class: As a Hatha Yoga Instructor I make an effort to focus on breath work, Pranayama to create a link between the body and mind through physical postures. This particular style of yoga engages you in all forms to activate and move your body and Chakra system. HA translated to English means Sun and THA translates to moon representing both hemispheres, right and left side of the human brain which become balanced and open when taking part in the postures of Hatha Yoga. You can expect my classes to be a gentle approach to this form of movement, holding your postures from anywhere between 5 to 10 full breaths. Whether you are new to this practice or an advanced student, my classes will help build your strength, flexibility and comfort from within while learning to still the mind and be present in the moment.
- Yoga Explorations: Breath, Body, and Mind
This weekly 75-minute class is for those looking to explore yoga from it's many perspectives: the breath, the spine, the Self and the Non-Self. It's an expanded version of our Gentle Yoga Explorations class, with the addition of topsy-turvy postures such as working up to headstand, exploring backwards and forward bends, Sun Salutation variations, and playing with more advanced postures, along with yoga breathing techniques and meditative mind-body integration. Each class is different and gently challenging in ways that are unexpected and liberating. Emphasis is on awareness; on the movement of the spine; on the natural, child-like simplicity of a whole breath, and re-learning how to trust and release - and finding a sense of belonging from within. As always, Jennie uses her intuition and years of expertise when working with the energy present in the room - so every class is different. Although we play with asanas (yoga postures), the emphasis is purely on each individual's range of abilities and on personal development, so there is no pressure to be flexible or perfect in any posture. This is a safe and playful learning space where we welcome the opportunity for everyone to just be themselves! This is an open class, however we do stress that certain postures may be contra-indicated for health conditions such as high blood pressure, siatica, whiplash and other neck injuries, knee pain, glaucoma, diabetes, and heart disease. For anyone with conditions such as these, please join our sublime Gentle Yoga Explorations class on Tuesday mornings at 10:30! https://www.meetup.com/yogacirkel/events/cnggcqyxlbsb/ New Students: 3 classes for $30 75-minute drop-in class: $20 (or PWYC) 10-Class Pass: $180 Jennie is an insured instructor and is certified with Yoga Alliance. She has studied classical Patanjali-based yoga at SVYASA (India), as well as with Kripalu (USA), Sivananda Yoga (India and Canada), and Esther Myers Studio (Toronto) and studied under many different teachers around the world in her over 20 years of experience.
