What we're about

This is a group that charters a large ship and cruises out toward Catalina Island to view amazing meteor showers! The open dark skies of the ocean are ideal for viewing meteor showers away from all the lights on land. We go out for 3 hour cruises and when the boat stops, the on board astronomer guides us through the stars and constellations with a light pointer! Come enjoy a unique night under the stars!

Spring Solstice Stargazing Boat Cruise!

Catalina Classic Cruises

Come enjoy a beautiful evening under the stars! We cruise out into the ocean and stop under the stars to enjoy an astronomer guided program that will teach us the constellations and interesting facts about the stars and our galaxy! During the program, from the top decks of the boat, expect to see meteors, star clusters, nebula, satellites, giant red stars and more! The astronomer uses the intercom system on the boat and an amazing light pointer to deliver this exciting program! This year the Spring Solstice evening will be moon free so this will give us darker skies to enjoy more stars. The open expanse of the ocean, free of mosquitoes, is the perfect location for stargazing! We have other groups attending so RSVP soon to reserve your seat(s)! Join us for this unique night under the stars! Arrive by 8:30 pm to start boarding. The cruise leaves at 9 pm and returns at 11:45 pm. The boat has a bar and food for sale. The cost is $70 per person, payable when boarding, cash only. From past cruise experience, sometimes there is a parking fee and sometimes not, because we use the Queen Mary's parking lot. If you wish to be certain to avoid a parking fee, you can simply go to the Queen Mary before the cruise and have dinner or just grab a coffee or drink and they will comp your parking. The boat we use is parked right next to the Queen Mary so everything is walking distance. Thanks! ~Mark

Look Through World's Largest Telescope Available!

Mount Wilson Observatory

Have you ever dreamed of looking directly through one of the largest telescopes available in the world? Now you can! Come for an amazing evening peering into the universe through the 100 inch telescope on Mount Wilson Observatory! This telescope was used by the greatest astronomers of the twentieth century such as Edwin Hubble! Even Albert Einstein looked through this telescope! Mount Wilson Observatory is in the San Gabriel Mountains, north of Pasadena California. We only have 15 spaces available for this group adventure and this will be posted in other meetup groups. The cost is only $375 per person and includes a complete guided tour, including bus transportation, observatory tour of all telescopse, telescope viewing and a laser guided tour of the constellations! We will be securing this telescope well in advance because there is very limited access to it and only by groups. RSVP now only if you are seriously interested in experiencing this incredible evening. Include the number of guests you would like to bring with you. This first RSVP is only for getting the list of the first 15 people. Once this event is full, I will then post another meetup with more details and you will have to RSVP again and make payment (within about 1 week) to secure your space(s). If you have any questions, just message me on meetup or text me. Thanks! ~Mark (860)[masked] (eight six zero) nine zero eight-three eight five three
