What we're about
Crescent City Gaian Guild is a group based in New Orleans working together to support each other (mutual aid), to celebrate life, and to heal Mother Earth. We relate to the Earth, Gaia, as a living being. See gaianism.org for more info.
The purpose of our regular meetings is threefold. We meet to support each other in our journey as Gaians, deepening our understanding of who we are and what we’re doing here, as well as just caring for one another in a most basic way. We meet to celebrate life, to revel in the beauty and glory of Gaia, and to mark the passing of seasons. Finally, we meet to heal Mother Earth, in the sense that most all of us are engaged in various sorts of ecological activism, and it is hoped that our Guild meetings will buoy us up and give us strength in those efforts; further, we know that by healing ourselves we are also healing Gaia.
We invite all people interested in Earth-based spirituality. Religious explorers including especially Pagans of every ilk are invited to share their beliefs and experiences. Our group strives to learn and grow spiritually, and to help each other, our society, and our planet. If you are sorely missing that feeling of Pagan fellowship, we would love to meet you!
Lamplight Circle was founded in 2007, and is now the oldest Pagan social, educational, and activism group in South Louisiana. We spearheaded the creation of the Greater New Orleans Pagan Pride Project in 2011 and established the Wyld Fire Beltane Hunt in 2012. In 2022, we merged with the Crescent City Gaian Guild.
We believe in community... coming together, working toward a common goal. To that end, we love and welcome our LGBTQIA, BIPOC, and immigrant friends. We are anti-racist and pro-liberation. We endeavor to network with other Pagan groups in our area to provide a strong network of resources.
We do observe the Wheel of the Year, often with a contemplative approach. If you are interested in ritualistic celebrations, we highly recommend The Torch.
