What we're about
Welcome and thank you for your interest in Landry's Bicycles Triathlon Club!
We are a multi-sport club based in the Western suburbs, and these days we spend most of our time together at open water swims. We have a diverse membership with a wide range of ages and abilities, as well as levels of competitiveness, who live in towns from Wellesley to Millbury. A large number of us live in the Framingham, Hopkinton, Ashland and Southborough areas.
Open Water Swim Training:
Our open water trainings take place primarily in the Ashland Reservoir, on Wed and Fri mornings, though some additional swims get scheduled for other days and times. Distances range from ½ mi to 2 mi or more, depending on who’s up for what.
Run and Bike Training:
On occasion we coordinate a run and/or bike ride at other times during the week, when the group has a leader for it. Many of us used to participate in an 11.3mi bike Time Trial on Tue evenings at 6:30p, leaving from the Southborough Library. However, the leader who organized the ride and collected and reported on our times, stepped down.
As of this 2018 season, we have suspended our $25 annual membership fee. Therefore ,
Most years we offer our members club-logo'd shwag (a hat, hoodie, bike shirt, etc.) this is functional, affordable and cool. In recent years we designed a great windbreaker and stylish, hooded lightweight long-sleeve jersey. We are likely not offering any shwag during our suspended status,
We typically have a beginning-of-the-season administrative meeting at which we designate several team races throughout the season. In years past, these have included the Ashland Lions Olympic Tri in June, the Mass State Championships Olympic Tri in July and the Cranberry Trifest in August. We try and arrange to have the Landry's Bike 12'x12' canopy at these races for members and their guests to congregate under. However, given our suspended status there's no consensus on team races.
In years past we have had a pre-season and post-season BBQ (around mid-April and late-September), we have met for a combo training and food and/or drink from a member's home, and we have also met for a drink on a random week night. It remains to be seen what we will do this season, although when we meet for swims we will still likely share information on training, nutrition, race expectations, fitness, recovery, etc.
We get a 10% discount on non-sale purchases and on repairs and service at Landry’s. In years past we have had other sponsors that have offered a 10% in-store discount but we have not renewed any of these non-Landry's sponsors.
Club members tends to train off-season on their own. Landry's has been willing to make arrangements with us for off-season bike training in the stores, open only to Tri Club members where we’ll bring our own bikes and hook them up to trainers, but we have not taken advantage of this yet.
Feel free to message me if you wish to learn more. Happy training and racing!
