Looking for other thoughtful people to engage a wide range of topics over a good brew? The Agnostic Pub Group includes atheists, agnostics, Christians, and everything in between. We meet at a pub to read a book. The group is made up mostly of people connected in some way to Sycamore Creek Church and is co-led by a Christian and Atheist. Conversation ranges across the spectrum and does not always have to do with religion. Discussion is always engaging, civil, and fun. The group is sure to stretch, entertain, and challenge your thinking as you engage people who may or may not see life the same way you do. All are welcome.
In Adam Hamilton's book, Christianity and World Religions, Revised Edition, he examines the world's major religions - Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Christian readers will gain a better understanding of the similarities and differences between Christianity and the faiths of some of their next door neighbors.
In each chapter, you'll read about one of the major religions, discovering its essential beliefs and the historical setting of each faith. This study looks for common ground while noting differences and hopefully readers will come away with a better understanding and appreciation of other faiths and be led to better fulfill Jesus' command to "love our neighbor as we love ourselves." Includes Time Lines and Key dates of each religion.
