Whether you are a beginner or already have a meditation practice established, this program will enhance your ability to access inner peace, calmness and joy regardless of outer conditions. There are many benefits of a consistent meditation practice, including reduced stress and anxiety, improved health, greater intuition, compassion, awareness, and focus. Lessons in Meditation is Level One on the Path of Kriya Yoga. In this two week series, you will learn the Hong Sau technique of meditation. Hong Sau is designed to increase powers of concentration and introspection while helping to still the mind and calm the heart. The course also offers many tips on how to meditate effectively, establish a daily meditation routine, and how to integrate the benefits of meditation into daily life. Kriya Yoga is a meditation technique that quickly accelerates one’s spiritual growth. It became widely known through Paramhansa Yogananda’s spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi. Kriya works by giving the practitioner pranayama, or control of the life force. Through life force control, the yogi is able to overcome all of the obstacles preventing union with the Divine. Paramhansa Yogananda taught Kriya Yoga as part of a spiritual path that includes other yoga practices. The Kriya technique itself is given after about one year of study and practice of the other techniques that are part of the Path of Kriya Yoga. Ananda Michigan offers Kriya Yoga initiation once a year in the fall. In preparation for taking the initiation, one must complete four levels of classes starting with Lessons in Meditation.
