- Developing Augmented Reality applications using two different development tools
In this Meetup we'll start off with the usual Topics dive into the latest developments, trends, and significant news in the Augmented Reality space. Then we'll present two additional topics from somewhat opposite ends of the spectrum of AR development: 1 - Create and publish an AR experience in a few minutes with no coding experience required at all. We'll use ZapWorks Designer - a popular tool to use for those who want to quickly get started creating and publishing AR experiences. 2 - Create a cross-platform, marker-based AR experience using Unity and Vuforia's Cloud Recognition Services. We'll download, dissect, and extend a sample from the Asset store. Bring scuba gear and an extra high-pressure coding tank, this will be a deep dive... Anyone interested in learning about Augment Reality is welcome to attend - no experience or AR knowledge is necessary! Also, if you have a topic you're interested in presenting please let us know and we'll be glad to schedule a time for you.
- AR Topics Dive, SDK Updates, Sumerian Demo, and more...
This Meetup will be a Topics dive into the latest developments, trends, and significant news in the Augmented Reality space. And as usual, there's loads of activity to talk about - Google IO, Augmented World Expo (AWE), and Apple's WWDC 2018 all took place in the San Francisco Bay Area a few weeks ago and exciting developments are taking place. We'll look at new features of the latest releases of the leading SDK's (ARKit, ARCore, Vuforia, Wikitude) as well as a demo of how to create an AR app for iOS (Android is similar) using the recently released Amazon Sumerian WebXR creation tool. Come and join the discussion and find out how reality is ARbitrary...
- Augmented Reality Topics Dive and Updates...
This meetup will be a Topics dive into the latest developments, trends, and significant news in the Augmented Reality space. And as usual, there's loads of activity to talk about - new AR tech, products, companies, apps, API's, and AR everything continue to explode in growth. Ready Player One's Oasis and the NAB show has everyone's mixed reality buzzed as well - let's talk!
- Intro to Vuforia 7 AR Platform using Unity
An introduction to Vuforia 7 using Unity[masked] will be presented and although it's primarily for Unity developers wanting to get started developing AR apps, anyone will be able to follow along. We'll cover what Vuforia is, its major features, how to install it, creating an AR scene from scratch, using sample code as a basis for your apps, and more. This is not an interactive workshop but is intended to provide a jump start into Vuforia. We'll also make time for discussing the latest significant Augmented Reality news, so come join the fun!
- AR/VR Creation with Sumerian, Latest News, and Topic(s) Dive
We’ll do a brief introduction to the AR/VR creation tool Amazon Sumerian. Sumerian doesn't require any programming expertise and enables developers to create immersive and interactive AR/VR scenes. It’s also easy to connect to any of the vast array of cloud-based services available with Amazon AWS. Sumerian is in limited preview now, but you can apply for access via the Amazon website. Then we’ll continue exploring the ever-expanding AR landscape with the latest exciting news, and of course, there’s a lot of it!
- AR/VR Headset Demo, News, and Topic(s) Dive
We’ll start the year with a demo of the Mira Prism AR Headset and the Samsung Odyssey VR Headset, an update and general discussion on AR smartglasses, then continue exploring the ever-expanding AR landscape with the latest exciting news!
- AR News and Topic(s) Dive
We'll continue exploring the ever-expanding AR landscape with the latest exciting news and then dive into some of the more significant topics of interest. For those who missed the last meetup, here's a link to the list of AR Categories and Links introduced: AR Categories and Links (https://app.box.com/s/5164sdg75skiio6b0xbm59h8ae3wd9cj) Stay tuned...
- Las Vegas Augmented Reality - First Meetup
Are you ready for the explosion of interest in all things AR when Apple releases its new iPhones? Apple announced that the iPhone 8 will ship starting September 22 and the iPhone X on November 3. The Augmented Reality features of the new iPhones are expected to usher in a new paradigm for user interaction with information! The release will also usher in numerous questions about Augmented Reality and important considerations such as what are Google and others going to do with Android to compete in this space? Is Apple’s ARKit and AR technology the only way to create Augmented Reality apps? Hardly. Apple didn’t invent AR but they’re about to establish themselves as the enabler that brings this exciting technology to the masses. So what is this Augmented Reality technology and what is it comprised of? How does it work? What are the hardware, software, content, apps, companies, services, development tools, SDK’s, specifications, and all the other pieces all about? Why is AR projected to be a $120 billion dollar industry in just a few more years? This first Las Vegas Augmented Reality Meetup will dive into some of these questions and set the stage for what to expect in subsequent monthly meetings. Please join in and help shape the direction we take. We plan to be doing deep-dives into many aspects of AR technology over time and covering as much of the rest of AR as possible. And we’ll definitely keep it fun, light, and entertaining as we climb the AR knowledge curve together! The exciting possibilities and reach of Augmented Reality technology are endless, so let’s jump into the AR journey and see where it takes us. RSVP for this first meeting, and start getting your reality augmented now!
