Are you currently writing anything?

I have all kinds of projects going; articles, personal essays, and a memoir about my experience as a foster parent and the heartbreak of having to let one of my babies go.

What Genre do you write in?

I am stricly non-fiction. Creative and journalistic. Although Drake is strictly fiction, his classes have been invaluable!

Introduction

Hi! Alison is my name. I have been religiously writing in a journal since the age of eight and have always said "I am going to write a book one day." That day has come.

What Alison M. is saying about this Meetup Group

Drake's latest work shop, "Point of View, What's the Point?" involved a myriad of useful information for writers in every genre. Drake, a layed back guy whos dress and demeanor are as organic as the way he presents his information, offered much more than POV. With plenty of time for questions, Drake shared invaluable information; trade secrets from the highly competitive book publishing industry such as whether to self-publish or get an agent. He offers a no BS approach to the business, what sells and doesn't sell, all in an easily comprehensive form. Cunning Drake will keep me, a strictly non-fiction writer, coming back to devour what he serves up next. "Write every day." "No one wants to work to read a book." "You want your readers to forget their reading a book." "When you read your stuff you should be blown away." These are just a few of Drakes priceless pieces of advice for writers. Thank you Drake! See you at your next class!!!
