One of the items of discussion was if we should allow recruiters in the group. No decisions were made and it will be left up to the greater group as a whole. There were to basic scenarios discussed. We can either give recruiters limited access through limited sponsorship of refreshments at events for a chance to briefly address the membership or we can not allow recruiter involvement at all.
We decided to try a once per month standard topics based meeting where the topics in the "what do we want" section will be covered. The majority of the talks would come from group members as submitted talks and occasional subject matter experts would be brought in. We may also have reps from tech companies talk where appropriate.
We also discussed a casual co-working/hack night to try and fill the Jelly void. We will work with the existing language specific user groups to try and see if we can merge some of them to provide a larger pool for ideas and experience as well as freeing up nights for user groups to meet without overlapping. The Las Vegas calendar is packed right now and there are no open nights.
As promised, a few of us went to socialize at a local establishment within walking distance of the meeting.
We will be scheduling the regular monthly meetings and the 4th Tuesday of the month looks like the day. We will also be creating user survey base off of the information provided at the meeting.
