What we're about

Hi There! This MeetUp was created by four best friends who recently moved to Atlanta. We want to create a group that enjoys trying new activities and going to new places. Since there are 4 of us we have a variety of different interests. For example, some of us enjoy hiking and relaxing by the river while others prefer to sip cocktails and go salsa dancing. We want our MeetUp to be a place where friendships are created, memories are made and a lot of fun is had! Our group is open to men and women of all different backgrounds! We hope to have people who are new to the area as well as those who have called Atlanta home forever.

Concrete Jungle's 5th Annual "Spectacular Fruit Ramble"

Brownwood Park Recreation Center

To kick off Atlanta’s fruit season, Concrete Jungle will host their largest annual fundraiser, the Spectacular Fruit Ramble, on Sunday, May 19 from 3 to 8 pm. During The Ramble, guests will explore the varieties of edible fruit growing in East Atlanta Village while enjoying a fruit-themed carnival and local libations. The Ramble begins at 3 pm at Brownwood Park, where guests will check in and begin the family-friendly walking and biking tour of the East Atlanta neighborhood. Ramble attendees will enjoy an adventurous afternoon spent learning about the city’s fruit trees and sampling fruits along the path, such as serviceberries and mulberries. The tour ends at 4:30 pm back at the park and the real party begins! Engage with the Concrete Jungle team and play zany fruit-themed carnival games that will challenge your perceptions of the fruits you know and love. Two drinks provided by Midway Pub are included in the ticket price and a food truck will be onsite for hungry Ramblers. If you are inspired by what you learn during The Ramble, Concrete Jungle staff and board members will be available to provide information on upcoming volunteer and engagement opportunities. Your support of their mission to transform overlooked and underutilized fruit into a healthy food source for people in need is greatly appreciated. Farm Day Volunteering!

1117 Birch St SW

Doghead Farm is our urban farm in the Sylvan Hills neighborhood of Southwest Atlanta. It may be less than one acre but it produces literal TONS of food. Since they started the farm in 2012, they’ve grown 5,383 pounds of beets, carrots, collards, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, potatoes, radishes, summer squash, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips and winter squash. Throughout the year, they have farm workdays every other Saturday from 10 AM- 12 PM. These are a great opportunity to get your sweat on, learn a little bit about growing food, meet new people all while helping to produce more food for Atlanta’s homeless and hungry. Join us on our farm at 1117 Birch Street to take care of crops being grown to donate! It's hard work but we make sure to make it fun! PLEASE RSVP AT THIS LINK. It helps the organizer get an accurate volunteer count, which helps to guarantee that they have enough tools. https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/2644802/false#/invitation
