TRIZ is a powerful methodology and versatile tool for innovation. Although TRIZ’s problem definition and solution methodology come from the engineering industry, the concept can be adapted for the service industries.

For consultants/improvement teams, TRIZ can be a support tool for creative thinking when faced with complex project/change issues.

The four principles of TRIZ are:

  • There are ‘ideal’ solutions to complex problems; ones that need minimal resources and have maximum benefit
  • Opportunities/Issues are created due to some sort of a contradiction
  • One path of innovation is to move from a specific problem, to general problem and solution, and back to specific problem
  • There are 40 generalised principles we can use

You will have the opportunity to trial the ‘TRIZ for Services’ card game that consists of 40 Innovation Cards and 5 Service Type Cards.
